Pearl Assurance House

Urbanise was delighted to be engaged to deliver various works at Pearl Assurance House, a 1950s building on the Princess Street side of Albert Square in the heart of Manchester city centre.

From top to bottom

We were tasked with installing a new, long-lasting roof as the existing roofing system had reached its end of life. We installed a liquid-applied waterproofing system, providing a seamless, fully bonded and durable roof covering, which will last for many years to come. Next, we installed safe access stairs and a mansafe system to protect the safety of individuals who need to access the roof, such as surveyors and inspectors conducting routine maintenance. We also carried out internal works. This included stripping back the communal areas to their original features followed by restoration and cleaning.

Lastly, we upgraded the plant room, including fitting a new power supply and boiler, to ensure the building services equipment was up-to-date and complied with all relevant regulations.

Project challenges

As with all city centre projects, it was paramount to meticulously plan and coordinate logistics. We worked closely with suppliers to ensure seamless delivery windows and waste removal, with minimal disruption to the public and surrounding businesses.
