“Our largest project with Urbanise was to undertake repairs to Manchester Arena following the terrorist bombing. Matt Kimber and his team performed with the utmost discretion and professionalism on this highly complex and sensitive refurbishment.
Matt’s ability to solve complex technical challenges is second to none. For example, the arena works included the re-glazing of a 23-year-old, 16m x 16m steel framed roof light which spanned a 5-storey void. The frame had warped since installation and replacement would have been simpler but would not have been claimable under the client’s insurance. Urbanise therefore procured bespoke replacement components and devised a custom jacking system to straighten and fully restore the roof light.
The arena project also showcased Urbanise’s ability in dealing with numerous and demanding stakeholders, including Network Rail for track and railway station interfaces, the arena operator, tenants, victims’ groups and the general public.”
